About Me

Hi, I’m Jake.

I’ve been a musician since I was in middle school. I started out on a clarinet but was obsessed with guitars and keyboards. A neighbor loaned me their acoustic guitar and I taught myself by playing along to my favorite records. I started writing my own songs in high school and recording them on a 4-track.

I’ve played in bands, recorded bands, mixed and mastered albums, and toured. While guitar is my main instrument, I’ve spent over a decade learning synthesis and drum machines as I’ve always loved electronic music in all forms.

I want others who have an interest in pushing their ideas further to have a space to work and create. Local Voltage isn’t a high end studio environment where you’re paying me to do the work while I show off really expensive gear. I want to help you be a better musician or song writer and teach you how to work through creative blocks or learn new instruments and tools to use.

It’s fun to learn an instrument and more fun to learn to jam with other musicians. I want to provide a space where people can be creative and share their creativity with others. It gets you out of the house, off social media, and exposes you to new things.
