Frequently Asked Questions
Does Local Voltage teach piano lessons?
I do not teach piano lessons. Synthesizer lessons teach the fundamentals of subtractive synthesis. How to use filters, envelopes, LFOs, and oscillators.
Can you record my band?
Please get in touch about recording sessions. Local Voltage is not an official recording studio at this time but we can accommodate if the project is right.
Do you fix gear?
Bring your gear in for an assessment. We can typically figure out if we can fix your issue and we have recommendations if we cannot.
What’s the difference between Local Voltage lessons and a recording studio?
Great question! I’m here to teach you the basics of synths and drum machines whether you are interested in electronic music or you want to add it to accompany your guitar work. I’m can also teach you how to use a compressor, EQ, solve mixing problems, and even songwriting problems.
This is a collaborative learning environment in a weekly lesson format (like paying for a personal trainer, you get gains every week.)
Do I need to know how to read music to take synth lessons?
No, it doesn’t hurt to know some basics but it is not required. You can make really cool soundscapes without any knowledge of notes but I can also show you a few things to help you on your way.
Can I borrow gear?
No, we do not currently rent or loan gear.
